MODULATIONAL INSTABILITY OF THE RADIAL VIBRATIONS OF CORONAL LOOPS

Abstract

Axisymmetric modes in coronal loops are used to interpret observed fast microwave and hard x-ray pulsations. Their properties are well studied in the approximation of linear magnetic hydrodynamics. Currently, axisymmetric modes of large amplitude are actively investigated.
