Author Guidelines
- Author's original articles are accepted for consideration only if they meet the requirements for publication in the journal "Modern Science and Innovations", placed on the official website of Pyatigorsk Institute (branch of NCFU) in the section "Scientific Journal" and in the current issues of the journal.
The text similarity of more than 20% is considered to be unacceptable.
1.1 To optimize the editorial and publishing preparation the Editorial Board accepts from the authors the manuscripts in Russian/English and the accompanying necessary documents in the following set:
- Printed copy of the manuscript
The volume of the article: 6-12 pages (original article), 15-20 pages (review article), 2-3 pages (short report).
Typing requirements: format A4; font size 12; font Times New Roman; line spacing 1,15; page numbering at the bottom center; margins all 2 cm; indent 1,25 cm.
- Information about the author (in Russian and English)
The information should include the following: Full name, academic degree, academic title, position, place and address of work, e-mail address and contact telephone numbers.
- On the electronic media in separate files (CD-DVD or flash card): electronic variant of a manuscript in text editor Word (file name: "Surname and patronymic _article") and information about the author (file name: "Surname and patronymic _information about the author")
- Review of the supervisor (for graduate students, adjuncts and applicants). Signed by the supervisor in his or her own hand.
- Review by a specialist in the given scientific field who has a scientific degree
The reviewer's signature must be certified by the appropriate personnel structure (the review must be external to the department or other structural subdivision in which the author works)
- Expert opinion (for technical sciences)
All institutes have expert commissions that sign expert opinions on the possibility of publishing the article in the open press.
1.2 The article must contain the following design elements:
a) UDC index;
b) full name of the author(s) (name and patronymic);
c) title;
d) the place of work of the author (authors) (in parentheses in the nominative case);
e) a brief abstract of the content of the manuscript (3-4 lines, should not repeat the title);
f) a list of key words or phrases (5-7)
All items must necessarily be translated into English/Russian.
1.3 Formatting Figures, Formulas, and Tables.
Figures and tables are inserted in the text in the right place. References in the text to tables and figures are obligatory. The Editorial Board is not responsible for the quality of figures or photos.
1.3.1 Design of figures (graphs, charts):
a) all captions in figures must be readable;
b) Figures should be designed taking into account the peculiarities of black-and-white printing (it is recommended to use different types of shading and patterns as fillings, different types of lines in diagrams – dotted, solid, etc., different design of points on which the diagram is built – circles, squares, rhombuses, triangles); colored and halftone figures are excluded;
c) Figures must be read separately from the text, so the axes must have names and units;
d) Figures are numbered at the bottom (Figure 1 – Title) and are executed in the graphic editor in 10 keg (font).
1.3.2 Formatting of formulas.
Formulas are executed in the program editor of formulas MathType; 12 font, aligned to the center, their numbers are placed using a tabulator in parentheses on the right edge.
1.3.3 Table formatting.
Tables should have a name. Tables are numbered at the top (Table 1 – Title) and are performed 10 point (font), line spacing – single.
1.3.4 The bibliography list.
It is placed at the end of the article. It lists all sources referred to by the author, with a full bibliography of the publication (in accordance with GOSTR 7.0.5-2008).
Rejection rate - 40%.
The authorship of an article is determined directly by the author. Authors not included in the authorship section are included in the "Acknowledgments" section of the article.

- Author's articles, designed with violations of the requirements are not considered and are not returned.
- The edition carries out the reviewing of all incoming materials to the Editorial Board, corresponding to its topics for the purpose of their expert assessment. All reviewers are acknowledged specialists in the field of the reviewed materials and have publications in the last 3 years in the field of the reviewed article.
- The Editor-in-Chief (Deputy Editor-in-Chief) determines the compliance of the article with the journals profile and design requirements and sends it for reviewing. Author's articles that do not correspond to the profile are not returned to the author, the author is notified about the non-compliance of the article with the journal profile.
- The reviewers are members of the Editorial Board and external reviewers – scientists and specialists in the given field (doctors, candidates of science). Each manuscript is sent for evaluation to external reviewers supervising the corresponding branch of science, members of the Editorial Board are involved in reviewing if it is not possible for some reason to obtain an external review. Also, members of the Editorial Board can be involved in reviewing in controversial cases and if necessary to obtain a third opinion. Each article is sent for verification to two reviewers. The decision on choosing one or another reviewer to conduct an examination of the article is made by the Editor-in-Chief.
- An article submitted for a review shall be reviewed and returned back to the Editor’s office within 30 calendar days since it was received; otherwise there must be a reasonable response provided explaining the refusal to review the article. The total review period is 4-8 weeks.
- The Editorial Board of the publication sends to the authors of the submitted materials copies of reviews or a motivated refusal, and also undertakes to send copies of reviews with the indication of the author to the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation when the corresponding request is received in the Editorial Board of the publication.
- Reviewing is carried out confidentially for the authors of articles and reviewers, has a closed nature and is provided to the author of the manuscript at his written request, without signing and indicating the name, position, place of work of the reviewer.
- The review should evaluate the relevance of the problem considered in the submitted article, originality, scientific novelty of the research. The reviewer should assess the scientific and methodological level of research, evaluate the results of the study, assess the reliability of scientific results presented in the article, evaluate the practical significance and importance of the research results for science and practice. In the conclusion the reviewer makes a conclusion about the advisability of publishing the article.
- The reviewer may recommend the article for publication; recommend the article for publication after revision with consideration of comments; do not recommend the article for publication. If the reviewer recommends the article for publication after revision, taking into account the comments or does not recommend the article for publication - the review should indicate the reasons for such a decision.
- The reviewer has the right to point out the need to make additions and clarifications to the manuscript, which is then sent (through the Editorial Board) to the author for revision. In this case, the date of receipt of a manuscript to the Editorial Board is the date of return of the revised manuscript. The article revised by the author is sent for reviewing repeatedly.
- The review should be signed by the reviewer (contain his/her contact information) and certified by the seal of the organization.
- After a review is received by the Editorial Board, a regular meeting of the Editorial Board considers the issue of received reviews and makes the final decision to publish or not to publish articles. Authors who are denied the publication of manuscripts are sent a reasoned refusal.
- If the author does not agree with the reviewer's opinion, the manuscript can be sent for repeated (additional) reviewing by agreement with the Editorial Board.
- The order and order of publication of an article is determined depending on the volume of published materials and the list of headings in each particular issue.
- The original reviews are subject to storage in the publishing house and in the editorial office of the journal for 5 years.
