Prospects for increasing the efficiency of extraction processes of carotenoids from by-products of processing biological raw materials

Abstract

Carotenoids have a wide range of health benefits: they strengthen the immune system and wound healing process, and protect against the harmful effects of ultraviolet radiation. They are used in the food and cosmetics industries, animal feed and pharmaceuticals. Therefore, extracting biologically active substances from fish processing by-products can significantly reduce food waste. This article describes methods for extracting carotenoids from by-products of processing particulate fish species.
